Basic Policy on Safety and Health

Japan Semiconductor Corporation, guided by the motto "Safety and Health First," is committed to valuing people, creating abundant value, and contributing to society, building on the Toshiba Group's management philosophy, and the Basic Policies on Safety and Health of the Toshiba Group and the Toshiba Device Storage Group. As a sustainability-oriented company, we respect the cultures and customs of countries around the world while we conduct our business activities, which are centered on the prototyping, development, manufacturing, and sales of semiconductor products.

To that end, we will make life, safety, and compliance our top priorities in all business activities, and advance the creation of a safe and comfortable workplace environment and the maintenance and promotion of physical and mental health.

  1. We regard safety and health as one of our top management priorities, and are committed to preventing work-related injuries and illnesses, through the continuous improvement of our safety and health management activities.
  2. We comply with the Industrial Safety and Health Act and regulations, as well as the guidelines and voluntary standards we have committed to.
  3. We set targets and objectives for the following items and implement them.
    • Eliminating workplace accidents and occupational diseases, and reducing the risks that cause them. We will encourage each employee to take personal ownership of safety, and enhance their awareness of potential risks and their safety consciousness. At the same time, we will focus on mitigation measures tailored to our company's specific circumstances, particularly with regard to the following risks:
      • Risks associated with natural disasters
      • Risks arising from chemical substances, high-pressure and hazardous gases, electrical equipment, machinery, etc.
      • Risks arising from equipment, facilities, and operations related to new installations, relocations, removals, and layout changes
      • Risks arising from human behavior, capabilities, and work processes
      • Risks arising from non-routine situations (such as maintenance, servicing, or equipment malfunctions)
    • Maintaining and promoting the physical and mental health of all employees, so that they can make the most of their individual abilities. We focus on raising each employee's awareness of health management, improving lifestyle habits, enhancing mental health care capabilities, and implementing various effective support measures.
  4. To ensure the safety and health of everyone involved in our operations, we require our business partners to implement safety and health measures, and we support their efforts.
  5. We actively publicize our safety and health initiatives and achievements, to help raise society's standards for safety and health management. "Mindfulness, Vigilance, and Consideration": We aim to foster a culture of safety and health through mutual awareness and compassion.

Oita Operations

Based on Japan Semiconductor Corporation's Basic Policy on Safety and Health, our Oita Operations facility operates under the motto "Safety and Health First." Through the prototyping, development, and manufacturing of semiconductor products, we create significant value, contribute to the creation of a safe and comfortable workplace environment and the development of the local community, and place the highest priority on our customers and all other stakeholders as we conduct our business activities.

Specifically, we value life, safety, and compliance above all else in all business activities at this operations facility, promoting the creation of a safe and comfortable workplace environment and the maintenance and promotion of physical and mental health.

  1. Furthermore, in the event of a natural disaster, we will strive to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in our operations.
  2. We comply with the Industrial Safety and Health Act and regulations, as well as the guidelines and voluntary standards we have committed to.
  3. We set goals, and act on them, for the following items.
    • Eliminating workplace accidents and occupational diseases, and identifying and reducing the risks that cause them. While enhancing each employee's awareness of hazards and errors, we focus on implementing mitigation measures tailored to our company's specific circumstances, particularly concerning the following risks:
      • Risks arising from chemical substances, high-pressure and hazardous gases, electrical equipment, and machinery
      • Risks arising from equipment, facilities, and operations related to new installations, relocations, removals, layout changes, deterioration, etc.
      • Risks arising from human behavior, capabilities, and work processes
      • Risks arising from non-routine situations (such as maintenance, servicing, or equipment malfunctions)
      • Verification of effectiveness through ongoing assessment of residual risks, monitoring measurements, and thorough assurance of competence
    • Maintaining and promoting the physical and mental health of all employees, so that they can make the most of their individual abilities. In particular, we focus on improving mental health and lifestyle-related diseases, with adaptation to our company's specific circumstances, and on implementing effective support measures.
  4. To ensure the safety and health of everyone involved in our operations, we require our business partners to implement safety and health measures, and we support their efforts. We also take steps to reduce risks and ensure thorough safety for outsourced work conducted on our premises, aiming to strengthen safety management for external stakeholders.
  5. We actively publicize our safety and health initiatives and achievements, to help raise society's standards for safety and health management.
