Occupational Health and Safety Policy

Iwate Operations

  With making “Safety and Health First” as our motto, Japan Semiconductor Corporation have been and will be engaged, mainly, in the business of trial production, development, manufacturing, and sales of semiconductor products while focusing on the sustainability management and respecting the culture and customs of all countries and regions in the world. Our guiding principles are to keep with the Basic Commitment of the Toshiba Group, stating “Committed to People, Committed to the Future,” as well as the Basic Policy for Safety and Health of Toshiba Group and Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation.

  In this course, we accord the highest priority to human life, safety, and legal compliance in all our business activities, and we endeavor to create safe and comfortable workplace environments and to maintain and improve our mental and physical health status.

  1. We position safety and health as one of the most important management tasks, and shall strive to prevent injuries and diseases in the workplace by achieving continual improvement in occupational safety and health management.
  2. We shall comply with the Industrial Safety and Health Act and related ordinances and rules, and also with our self-imposed guidelines and standards.
  3. We set the following objectives and targets, and shall endeavor to achieve them:

    (1) Eliminating occupational accidents and diseases and lowering the level of risks that could cause them;
    We shall focus on enhancing each employee's sensitivity to dangers and errors, and particularly on reducing the following risks by taking into account of our actual situations:
    1. 1) Risks associated with natural disasters,
    2. 2) Risks involved in the use of chemical substances and high-pressure and/or hazardous gases,
    3. 3) Risks associated with equipment, facilities and/or works in the curse of installation, relocation, removal, and layout changes,
    4. 4) Risks related to actions, abilities and work processes of operators,
    5. 5) Risks involved in non-routine works (i.e., during periodical maintenance and equipment failure)
    (2) Maintaining and improving the physical and mental health of all employees so that they can make full use of their abilities;
    In particular, we shall provide effective assistance to our employees in improving mental health and dealing with lifestyle-related diseases, by taking into account of our actual situations.
  4. We sincerely ask for and shall provide support to all business partners in enhancing the activities for occupational safety and health, in order to ensure the safety and health of everyone involved in our business.
  5. We shall proactively disclose our activities and achievements concerning occupational safety and health, and contribute in enhancing the level of safety and health management of our society.

Oita Operations

  With making “Safety and Health First” as our motto, Oita Operations of Japan Semiconductor Corporation have been and will be engaged in the businesses, by creating values through trial production, development and manufacturing of semiconductor products, and contributing to the creation of safe and comfortable workplace environments and the development of local communities. We pursue our business activities while respecting our customers and all other stakeholders. Our guiding principles are to keep with the Basic Policy for Safety and Health of Japan Semiconductor Corporation.

  Specifically, we accord the highest priority to human life, safety, and legal compliance in all our business activities in Oita Operations, and we endeavor to create safe and comfortable workplace environments and to maintain and improve our mental and physical health status.

  1. We position safety and health as one of our most important management tasks, and shall strive to prevent injuries and diseases in the workplace by achieving continual improvement in occupational safety and health management.

    5. ⑤ Confirmation, monitoring and measurement of the effectiveness through continuous evaluation of residual risks, and thorough follow-up of competency management
    (2) Maintaining and improving the physical and mental health of all employees so that they can make full use of their abilities;
    In particular, we shall provide effective assistance to our employees in improving mental health and dealing with lifestyle-related diseases, by taking into account of our actual situations.
  4. We sincerely ask for and shall provide support to all business partners in enhancing the activities for occupational safety and health, in order to ensure the safety and health of everyone involved in our business.
